Hi Friend! My name is Ángel
Hi, I’m Àngel (he/they) — a body liberation personal trainer, somatic coach, and trauma-informed movement guide. I created The Body Liberation Movement because I spent too many years believing my body had to change in order for me to be worthy. Diagnosed with an eating disorder and living with PTSD and ADHD, I know firsthand how oppressive and violent the fitness and wellness industry can be—especially for queer, fat, neurodivergent, and BIPOC folks.
I’m here to change that.
My work centers around helping people reconnect with their bodies—not through shame, but through care, joy, and choice. I use a mix of strength training, nervous system education, breath work, and somatic tools to help you feel safe in your body again. No weigh-ins. No diets. No before-and-after pics. Just a deep, radical return to your power—one breath, one stretch, one movement at a time.
This is about more than fitness. This is about liberation.
What Is Body Liberation?
Body liberation is the radical idea that your body is not a problem to be fixed. It’s the freedom to exist in your body without shame, pressure, or punishment—no matter your size, ability, race, gender, or health status. Body liberation pushes back against harmful systems like diet culture, fatphobia, ableism, and white supremacy that tell us our worth depends on how we look. It says: You were never the problem—the system was.
At The Body Liberation Movement, we’re not chasing weight loss or trying to shrink ourselves to fit into someone else’s standards. We’re reclaiming movement as a tool for joy, healing, and connection—not control. Body liberation means honoring your body’s needs, trusting your inner wisdom, and knowing that you are worthy of care exactly as you are. This is about healing in community, building power together, and taking up space unapologetically.

What Is Diet Culture?
Diet Culture is a system of beliefs that equates thinness with health and worth, demonizes certain foods, and teaches us that our bodies need to be fixed.
“You have to earn your food”
“Thin = worth”
“Cheat day”
“Burn off calories”
“You’ll be happy when…”
None of this is true.
You are enough. Always.
You don’t need to earn your food.
Your body is not the problem.
Health is not a size.
What is Trauma Informed Care?
Trauma-informed care recognizes that trauma doesn’t just live in our memories—it lives in our bodies. When we’ve experienced harm, especially over time, our nervous system learns to stay on high alert. This can show up as tension, pain, shutdown, or feeling disconnected from your body. Many of us have been told to “push through it,” but real healing begins when we learn how to listen to our body—not fight it.
At The Body Liberation Movement, I use trauma-informed care to help you feel safe in your body again. We explore how the nervous system works using simple tools from Polyvagal Theory, like understanding your body’s stress responses. Through breath work, movement, and grounding practices, I guide you in calming your nervous system and reconnecting with your body gently. This isn’t about performance—it’s about creating safety, choice, and trust in your own skin.
